Nicole Kidman i James McAvoy najlepszymi aktorami teatralnymi

Wyróżnienia wręczono w londyńskim teatrze Old Vic - w trakcie 61. gali Evening Standard Theater Awards.

Nicole Kidman została nagrodzona za występ w wyreżyserowanej przez Michaela Grandage'a sztuce "Photograph 51". Na deskach Noel Coward Theatre aktorka zagrała Rosalind Franklin, brytyjską biofizyk, której prace przyczyniły się do odkrycia podwójnej helisy DNA.

James McAvoy został z kolei wyróżniony za rolę arystokraty wierzącego w to, że jest mesjaszem w satyrze "The Ruling Class" w reżyserii Jamiego Lloyda. Spektakl wystawiany był na deskach Trafalgar Studios.

Wśród pozostałych laureatów znalazły się także inne gwiazdy filmowe, w tym Imelda Staunton (za rolę w sztuce "Gypsy" wystawianej w Savoy Theater) oraz Gemma Arterton (za występ w musicalu "Made in Dagenham"). Honorową statuetkę odebrała Vanessa Redgrave.

Ceremonię poprowadzili m.in. Judi Dench i Ian McKellen.
